Traveling alone can be a daunting decision, but it offers incredible rewards. When you travel solo, you gain complete control over your time and choices. You become the master of your own itinerary, you are free to decide how to spend each moment. As the king or queen of your decisions, you have the flexibility to manage your budget and make last-minute changes without consulting anyone else. This sense of freedom and autonomy will show you that choosing to travel alone was one of the best decisions you could make. How many times have you had to cancel plans because your partner, friend, or parents decided they didn’t want to go or got sick last minute? It has happened to me, Let me tell you a story.

Are You Intimidated or Afraid of Traveling Alone?
Once, I traveled with a friend, and the plan was to go out at night to a place with music and a wonderful dining environment in Quito. As night approached, my friend got sick, and we ended up staying at home eating Chinese food. I stayed home because she is my best friend, and I wasn’t going to leave her alone, but if it were just an acquaintance, believe me, I would have grabbed the first taxi and gone out to dance alone.
My adventures as a ‘solo traveler’ began when I realized that my vacations didn’t coincide with those of my family and friends to make plans together. Do you think that stopped me? NEVER!!
Do you know that when we are accompanied, we tend to satisfy the other person’s desires? For example, if you want pizza, but your companion wants a hamburger, in the end, you’ll choose the hamburger, right? To please them because we are programmed to be nice and accommodating. But when traveling alone, you can indulge in a pizza feast!
Remember that you must take safety measures: When traveling alone, forget about wearing luxurious jewelry in the streets, take care of your belongings, don’t get drunk at a bar, or walk late at night in deserted or non-touristic areas without police presence. Use common sense, and stay safe in every way! Bring your medications, always get travel insurance, and make friends with the people around you. You’ll realize you can make great friends!
Traveling alone awakens your survival instinct, and you’ll realize that you are independent and self-sufficient. You can manage your budget, whether you decide to save or spend more, it’s your decision, and that’s delightful! If you feel homesick, use your phone and social networks with free wifi available worldwide! Don’t speak the language? English takes you everywhere, and if you don’t know it, use translators on your phone. So, there are no excuses—dare to take that trip you’ve always wanted, alone. You’ll get to know yourself better.
